I really think that in the entire
three years I have been with Todd this word has not been present. We don’t go
out to dinner very often, don’t go to movies and we certainly don’t double date
often, if at all. Our kind of romance includes head butting, getting poked in
the eye, kneed in the jaw or an elbow to the jaw.(never try to tickle a man’s
feet. It ends in serious injuries for you.) Seriously. We are the clumsiest couple ever.
We’re pretty lucky we haven’t killed each other yet. But the biggest romance
killer is this:
I
stupidly got Carsyn a Twilight Turtle for Christmas last year. He freakin LOVES
this thing. It’s a turtle, but the shell of it has little stars and a moon cut
out so at night you can turn it on and choose between blue green or amber
colored stars. It sets up a whole night sky on your ceiling and it’s really
neat. (It even has constellations!) Until Carsyn decides he wants to move the ceiling. This turtle is set on
the side of Carsyn’s bed, and as most of you know our place isn’t that big
right now. We will be putting an addition on for Carsyn’s room and our room in
spring so until then we are all in the same room. (talk about a romance killer
in itself) So then Todd and I decide we will be cute and stare at the stars
together and it’s all really relaxing. Until the ceiling moves.. Carsyn has a
thing with kicking the side of his bed and in turn making the stars and moon
jiggle on the ceiling. (This results in a major headache and severe nausea on
my part.) Carsyn thinks that mommy getting up to dry heave for ten minutes is
the funniest thing he has ever seen. Coincidentally so does Todd. (in fact he
decided last night he would wiggle his arms and legs to go along with the stars
jarring around on the ceiling. You don’t know how bad I wanted to smack
him.) So in the end I no longer want to
kiss Todd. Sorry dear, but I’m saving you from a possibly scarring experience
here.
By the
way, these pokes and jabs to the face that I get are NOT always because I have
tried tickling him. I may not get it the first ten times but after a while I
figured out how to keep my face away from the swinging limbs. These pokes and
jabs to the face are just from us being plain old clumsy together. Really. It’s
that bad. If anyone took a look at my legs they would think he beats the crap
out of me. Thankfully Todd has never and will never lay a hand on me though.
Carsyn does a lot of interesting things, since he doesn't behave like "normal" kids do he has his own way of playing. this will be next times topic.
until next time <3
"Children need models more than they need critics." -JOSEPH JOUBERT
I found this quote and thought it was perfect. not only in the sense of others judging how kids are behaving but also for when people judge the child's disability. You can take it either way. I just thought about all the times that people have judged Carsyn's abilities or said he needed to be better.
